GUA MUSANG: A temporary relief centre (PPS) was opened in Gua Musang on last night to shelter flash flood victims after more than three hours of continuous heavy rain.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s Info Banjir portal, 17 residents from 11 families in Felda Chiku 5 were evacuated after their homes were inundated.
Gua Musang police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said the downpour, which began around 7pm, also caused flooding in several residential areas and major roads.
Affected roads include Jalan Gua Musang–Lojing near the district police headquarters and Jalan Gua Musang–Kuala Krai at the Bendahara traffic light intersection.
“The residential areas hit by flash floods are Kesedar Paloh 1, Paloh 3, Chalil, Felda Chiku 3 and Felda Chiku 5,” he said when contacted.
The rain has stopped and conditions are reported to be improving.— BERNAMA
