KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — Former Google and LinkedIn executive Edward Ling has been named the new group chief executive officer of Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp), taking the helm from Thomas Mathew, who concludes his five-year tenure today.

Ling’s extensive background spans over two decades in digital innovation, business transformation, and strategic partnerships with multinational companies.

His experience includes key leadership roles at LinkedIn, Waze, Google, and L’Oréal Malaysia, where he was instrumental in advancing digital capabilities and talent development.

He also strengthened regional ecosystems through senior positions at Doctor Anywhere, Yinson Capital, and Fujitsu Malaysia.

TalentCorp chair Wong Shu Qi said Ling’s appointment marks a continuation of the organisation’s strategic evolution under the Ministry of Human Resources.

She added that the board looks forward to his leadership in strengthening Malaysia’s workforce competitiveness.

Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong welcomed the appointment, noting it comes at a critical time as Malaysia deepens its future-ready workforce agenda.

“I believe TalentCorp will be able to combine industry expertise with policy insights to forge stronger ties between government and industry, ensuring Malaysia’s talent strategies remain aligned with both national and global economic needs,” he said.

Mathew, who led TalentCorp since 2020, is credited with transforming the agency into a strategic policy think tank and introducing key initiatives such as MyMahir, LIFE AT WORK, and the Xpats Gateway to drive innovation and inclusivity.
