
KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected across eight states, with warnings in effect until 11pm on Monday (Nov 3).
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the affected states were Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Sarawak and Sabah.
Perlis and Penang are on alert for severe weather.
Kedah districts of Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda and Sik are under the warning.
Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama and Hulu Perak in Perak are forecasted to be affected.
Kelantan is anticipated to experience severe weather conditions.
Terengganu districts including Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Dungun are expected to be affected.
In Pahang, Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran and Bera are on alert.
The district of Jelebu in Negeri Sembilan is forecasted to be affected.
Sarawak divisions of Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei (Sarikei), Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro and Mukah), Kapit (Bukit Mabong) and Bintulu (Tatau and Bintulu) are under the warning.
Sabah’s Tawau (Tawau, Kunak and Lahad Datu) and Sandakan (Tongod, Telupid, Kinabatangan and Sandakan) divisions are on alert.
MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.
These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
