Thai police find guns tied to Malaysian’s fatal shooting in Golok

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — Thai authorities have seized two guns from a former footballer arrested over the fatal shooting of a Malaysian man in Golok on Saturday.

Sungai Golok police chief Colonel Jetsadawit Inpraphan said the 31-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday evening, the New Straits Times reported.

He said the weapons were believed to have been used in the killing of the 33-year-old Malaysian man.

The suspect, who hails from Bereng in Sungai Golok, is expected to face several charges, including murder, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and carrying weapons in public without a permit or reasonable cause.

Police said the suspect, a former football player, holds both Thai and Malaysian passports.

He is currently being held at the Sungai Golok police station and will be remanded as investigations continue.

Authorities in Thailand and had been tracking him following the fatal shooting of Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali, 33.

Fuad was shot after an argument with the suspect on Saturday evening, and he was buried in yesterday.

Fuad, who alternated his residence between Pasir Mas and Golok, lived with his wife of two years, who is expecting their first child.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said Thai police were still probing the motive behind the shooting and confirmed that Fuad had four prior drug-related offences.
