SUNGAI BULOH:A massive fire destroyed four textile storage warehouses at Kampung Desa Aman near Sungai Buloh this morning.

Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received a distress call at 9.50am.

“Firemen from the Sungai Buloh station were immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival at 10.03am, the fire was already raging through four adjoining warehouse lots, each measuring approximately 75 by 25 feet,” he said when contacted.

He said three of the lots were about 90 per cent destroyed, while the fourth sustained 10 per cent damage.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the warehouses, classified as Class C buildings, were used for storing fabrics and textile materials.

“A total of 33 firefighters and officers from the Sungai Buloh, Damansara, Bukit Jelutong and Selayang fire stations were involved in the operation, assisted by four fire engines, three water tankers, a utility vehicle and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit.

“Six individuals suffered breathing difficulties due to smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene by Health Ministry medical personnel and EMRS responders. No fatalities were reported,” he said.

Ahmad Mukhlis said firefighting operations were still ongoing as of late morning to fully extinguish the fire and prevent the fire from spreading to other nearby premises.
