KUANTAN: A farmer was injured after being stabbed in the stomach by an acquaintance in Kampung Sri Damai, Jalan Gambang, on Friday.
Kuantan police chief Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah said the incident occurred about 7pm when the 38-year-old victim met the 25-year-old suspect in front of his house.
“The suspect asked the victim to follow him, claiming that a friend wanted to meet him.
“When the victim refused, the suspect pulled out a five-inch knife from his trousers and stabbed him in the abdomen,” he said in a statement today.
The victim sustained a tear to his abdomen and was treated at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here.
Police later arrested the unemployed suspect.
The attack is believed to have stemmed from resentment over the victim allegedly reporting the suspect’s drug use to the authorities.
Ashari said the man has been remanded for four days until Tuesday to assist in investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
