KUALA LUMPUR: Manchester United fans in Malaysia are in for a treat as club legend Ryan Giggs is set to visit ahead of the Red Devils’ clash with the Asean All-Stars in Kuala Lumpur later this month.
The Welsh icon will be in town on May 17-18 to build excitement for United’s visit , with the full senior squad scheduled to play at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on May 28.
While details of Giggs’ public appearances have yet to be confirmed, fans can expect a carnival-like atmosphere as anticipation builds for the pre-season showdown – part of United’s summer tour following the end of the Premier League campaign.
After the Kuala Lumpur fixture, United will head to Hong Kong, where they will face the Hong Kong national team on May 30.
It marks the Red Devils’ first match on Malaysian soil since their 2009 pre-season visit, when they edged Malaysia XI 3-2 and 2-0 in back-to-back matches on July 18 and 20 at the same venue.
