PETALING JAYA:

Men’s doubles shuttlers Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun’s bid to enter a third final this year was dashed by Indonesian pair Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani at the Hylo Open in Germany.

The 11th-ranked Indonesians defeated world No 5 Wei Chong-Kai Wun 21-16, 21-15 in only 33 minutes at the World Tour Super 500 championship in Saarbrucken, Germany.

The match was the third victory for the Indonesians over Wei Chong-Kai Wun in their four encounters so far.

Wei Chong-Kai Wun will take home US$6,650 (RM27,913) as semi-finalists.

Despite the loss, the Malaysian pair moved up to third in the World Tour Finals ranking after amassing 6,420 points as semi-finalists, placing them in a very strong position to qualify for December’s prestigious Super 1000 season-ender in Guangzhou, .

With compatriots Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in No 2, the fate of Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani also hangs by a thread as only the top eight in the list qualify for the finals.

The finals are also limited to a maximum of two pairs from a country in each of the categories.
