KUALA LUMPUR: A man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding is believed to have skidded following a tyre burst on the Kuala Lumpur–Seremban Expressway, near the SMART tunnel toll plaza, heading towards the city centre.
City Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the incident occurred at 6.35pm and involved a Honda RSX150 motorcycle.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the 30-year-old victim lost control of his motorcycle after the tyre burst, causing it to skid and collide with the road divider.
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz,” he said.
Police are seeking independent witnesses and working to obtain closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area to aid the investigation.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.
Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact Investigating Officer Inspector Muhammad Zuhairi Mat Zain at 017-9732731, the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Station at 03-20719999, or their nearest police station.
