SUBANG JAYA: Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a decomposed body by the riverside near a college in Bandar Sunway on Thursday evening.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the discovery was reported at 7.10pm on Oct 31 after members of the public alerted the Bandar Sunway police station.

“A team was immediately dispatched to the scene. The body was found wearing only long trousers and is believed to have been dead for some time based on its condition,” he said in a statement today.

Azlan said the victim’s identity and ethnicity had yet to be determined.

“No identification documents were found at the scene, and the state of the remains made on-site examination impossible. The body has been sent to the Forensic Department of Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death and establish the deceased’s identity,” he added.

Azlan added that the case had been classified as a sudden death for the time being, pending the full post-mortem report and further investigation.

Police have urged anyone with information or those with missing family members to come forward and contact the Bandar Sunway police station at 03-5621 2222 or the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters at 03-7862 7222 to assist with the investigation.
