PETALING JAYA:

A person has been detained after intruding on the train tracks of the MRT line, disrupting services during the morning rush hour.

Around 8.41am, Rapid KL reported that the MRT’s services were delayed due to the intrusion, with a team deployed to locate the perpetrator.

Alternative train services were introduced in the meantime.

Less than 20 minutes later at 8.57am, Rapid KL reported that the intruder had been apprehended and train services were back to normal.

“The alternative train services and shuttle buses were then discontinued.

“The train frequency is currently being adjusted and the service schedule will return to normal shortly.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patience,” it said in a statement.

Last week, a disruption to the Putrajaya MRT line forced train services to be operated manually.

Prasarana Malaysia Bhd suspected that this was caused by the theft of communication and signalling cables.
