PETALING JAYA, Oct 31 — The parents of six-year-old autistic boy, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin, arrived at the Sessions Court here at 8.30am today ahead of the verdict in their closely watched child-neglect case.
Ismanira Abdul Manaf, 30, and her husband, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, 30, entered the courthouse quietly, accompanied only by several family members and their legal team.
Both kept their heads down and did not speak to the waiting press as they made their way into the building.
There were no members of the public seen outside the courtroom despite the high-profile nature of the proceedings, apart from a small media contingent and several police personnel stationed along the corridor to manage access to the courtroom.
Proceedings are scheduled to begin at 9.30am.
Ismanira is charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 with allegedly neglecting Zayn in a manner likely to cause physical injury in the hours before his disappearance from their Damansara Damai home between December 5 and 6, 2023.
Zaim had earlier been discharged and acquitted at the prosecution stage.
The court will deliver its decision this morning.
