KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu’s disciplinary board is attempting to take action against Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, suspended supreme council member Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal claimed.
He said several members had repeatedly been suspended and questioned about Hamzah.
“The main target of the Disciplinary Board, as we confirmed today, has been clear from the very beginning, from the first time I was called in until now.
“Until today, we have been summoned again, but it is evident that the primary aim of the Disciplinary Board is to question the role of the Opposition Leader.
“In truth, their real objective is to take disciplinary action against the Opposition Leader.
“Those of us facing disciplinary proceedings are merely collateral, the real target is him,” he told reporters at a press conference in Parliament today.
The Machang member of parliament said the press conference was held to inform the public of what was happening behind closed doors, expressing disappointment over what party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was allowing to occur within Bersatu.
He also claimed that Bersatu Kepala Batas division chief Khaliq Mehtab Mohd Ishaq’s removal from the supreme council came after he was questioned about signing a statutory declaration, which he admitted to, believing there was nothing wrong with it.
On Oct 14, the party’s Disciplinary Board announced that Wan Fayhsal was suspended, while Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and four others have been sacked from the party.
