ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police arrested two men within 24 hours of a parang-point robbery in Taman Seri Orkid, Skudai, on Oct 28.

The incident occurred at 8.40am, when the 40-year-old Filipino was allegedly confronted by two men on a motorcycle in front of her home.

One suspect alighted and pointed a parang at her before snatching the gold necklace from her neck.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said the duo fled the scene, but was arrested between 3pm and 4.50pm on the next day in Skudai.

“Both suspects, aged between 29 and 43, have prior records related to crime and drugs. Urine tests also returned positive for methamphetamine,” he said in a statement today.

Police recovered a gold necklace and pendant, and seized two helmets, two shirts, and a motorcycle believed to have been used in the crime, with an estimated total value of RM8,600.

Both suspects have been remanded for seven days until Nov 5, to assist investigations for gang robbery and armed robbery, which carry penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.

Kumarasan said police were committed to curbing violent crime and urged the public to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or contact the district police control centre at 07-5113622 or their hotline at 07-5114486.
