SHAH ALAM: About six acres of forest along Jalan Pulau Angsa U10/2, Taman Perdana Height, Puncak Perdana, caught fire this afternoon.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 4.15pm before a team from Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station was deployed to the site.
Operations commander PBK II (KUP) Mohammad Fakrullah Abdul Manaf said the blaze initially affected two acres of forest, but spread to about six acres before it was brought under control at 6.05pm.
“The fire was fully brought under control and extinguishing works are still ongoing. As of 6.30pm, 80 per cent of the area has been extinguished while the remaining 20 per cent is still in the process of being put out,” he said in a statement today.
The operation was supported by members from Kapar and Sungai Buloh station, with a total of seven personnel and four vehicles including three Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) units and a water tanker. No casualties were reported in the incident.
