KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 — Former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli is set to start two major social enterprise projects, namely a convenience store and an eatery, under the Ayuh Malaysia platform in November.

The Pandan MP shared on X today that the Fleximart convenience store will open on November 1 and will focus on ready-made meals priced under RM5, along with other low-cost groceries.

He added that Kesum is a value-meal eatery based on the concept of “asal kenyang, sedap dan murah” (satisfying, tasty and affordable) that will sell breakfast, lunch and dinner at prices under RM5 starting on November 8.

Rafizi said both stores will use the concept of social enterprise, which is a partnership between capital contributors and workers.

“Profits will be shared among capital contributors, workers and the public. The more profit, the higher the workers’ salaries and the profits are donated back so that prices can be kept low,” he said.

Rafizi, who is also the former deputy president, said his intention is to create more job opportunities for young people and help people by offering food and goods at cheaper prices.

“If these two social experiments are successful, we have a better chance of expanding it to more branches.

“More branches open (mean) more low-price offers and more young people trained to own and operate their own businesses,” he explained.

Rafizi also invited the public to attend the opening of Fleximart on Saturday, 1 November at 10am at 35, Jalan Plumbum U7/U, Section 7, Shah Alam (next to Speedmart).

He said Kesum will open on November 8 at 9am at 25, Jalan Pandan Indah 1/20, Pandan Indah (next to KM Bistro).

“God willing, I will make coffee, prepare food and be part of the Fleximart and Kesum crew that day,” he said.

Previously, it was reported that the planned social enterprises under the Ayuh Malaysia platform is another way of bringing change to society and local communities, outside of politics.

The social enterprises would operate differently from profit-oriented businesses and donation-reliant non-governmental organisations by empowering local communities to conduct economic activities that are both effective and self-sustaining.
