KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 — A police corporal attached to the Kuala Muda district police headquarters in Kedah was remanded for a day after allegedly producing a false medical certificate to skip work, The New Straits Times reported.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said the remand order was granted by the Sungai Petani Magistrate’s Court today.
It is understood the 42-year-old officer, who has been with the force since 2007, serves in the Criminal Investigation Department’s K9 unit.
“We will investigate if he has done this before, purchasing MCs,” Hanyan said.
“He was detained by a team at a house in Bidor, Perak, at about 6.30pm yesterday.”
The policeman was subsequently brought back to the Kuala Muda district police headquarters for further action and tested negative for drugs.
Investigations are being conducted under Section 468 of the Penal Code for forgery and Section 86 of the Police Act for absenteeism without permission.
