BATU PAHAT: A six-year-old boy was found critically injured after his neck was allegedly slashed with a sharp weapon at a house in Parit Raja early this morning.
The victim suffered a slash to the right side of his neck, believed to have been caused by a knife, with the incident only noticed around 5.30am.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the boy’s 40-year-old mother lodged a report at 9am.
He said the woman told police that she woke up to find her son seriously injured in the neck.
“Therefore, the police have opened an investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt with a weapon.
“However, it is still too early for the police to determine the motive behind the incident,” he said in a statement.
Shahrulanuar advised the public not to post unverified information on social media, as it could interfere with the investigation and damage the reputation of individuals who may be wrongly implicated.
“The case is being investigated under Section 15 of the Child Act 2001,” he added.
Meanwhile, the boy is reported to be in stable condition after undergoing surgery this morning.
