Businessman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak has sued ‘s Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli for RM10 million over two videos posted online which he claims are defamatory.

In his suit filed on Oct 10, Farhash contended that the videos posted by Rafizi had damaged his reputation, particularly as a businessman, and that they had caused the public to criticise him.

He said they could also tarnish the trust and confidence of investors in the companies he worked for, The Edge reported.

“Investors, industry players, my partners and acquaintances have lost confidence in me … and this has affected my business opportunities and future investment.

“I have had to explain (the matter) many times to clear my name and reputation.

“As a result, I face embarrassment, humiliation and injury to my personal and professional dignity as a result of what Rafizi said,” he was quoted as saying. .

The first video cited in Farhash’s suit was published by Rafizi on July 25 following claims the businessman was involved in wrongdoing involving mineral exploration in Sabah.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has since cleared Farhash of the allegations.

In the second video, posted on Aug 20, Rafizi said the syringe attack on his son came a week after he met informants on a scandal he was looking into involving Farhash and the business dealings of his companies.

Farhash had demanded that the former deputy president apologise for the second video, but Rafizi said he was ready to defend his statement in court.

Farhash is executive chairman of several companies, including Apex Equity Holdings Bhd, Excel Force MSC Bhd and Key Alliance Group Bhd.

He also serves as non-independent and non-executive chairman of MMAG Holdings Bhd and 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd, and also sits on the board of directors of Berjaya Construction Bhd and Bukit Kiara Resort Bhd.

He also sits on Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia’s board of advisers.
