Drab Klang Valley derby ends in in goalless draw

PETALING JAYA: The Klang Valley derby ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw between and KL City at the MBPJ Stadium on Sunday.

KL City’s best chance came in the 51st minute when goalkeeper Sikh Izhan Nazrel Sikh Azman brilliantly saved Safawi Rasid’s effort.

nearly broke the deadlock in the 78th minute through Faisal Halim, but goalkeeper Quincy Kammeraad produced an equally impressive stop to preserve the draw.

The result keeps KL City in second place with 17 points from seven matches, trailing leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim (24 points from eight games). Selangor, meanwhile, sit in seventh with 10 points.

At the Batu Kawan Stadium, Immigration held Sabah to a 2-2 draw.

Joao Pedro gave the hosts the perfect start in the 27th minute, firing home to make it 1-0.

Sabah came out stronger after the break, and Stuart Wilkin levelled matters in the 50th minute before Miguel Angel Cifuentes struck three minutes later to complete the turnaround for the visitors.

However, Immigration refused to surrender, and Venezuelan forward Eduardo Vegas restored parity in the 78th minute with a well-taken effort. Sabah thought they had snatched a late winner when Ajdin Mujagic found the net in the 83rd minute, but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) ruled it offside.

Deep into stoppage time, the VAR was called into action again, this time sending off Immigration’s Nik Akif Syahiran Nik Mat for a reckless challenge.

Both teams settled for a point apiece, a result that leaves Sabah in 10th place with four points from seven matches, while Immigration remain bottom with three points.
