Fewer flood victims in Perak, but new relief centre opens in Hilir Perak

IPOH: As the weather improved today, the number of flood evacuees in Perak continued to decline, with 2,644 victims recorded as of noon, compared with 2,873 victims at 10am.

The state Disaster Management Committee, in a statement today, said that despite the decrease in evacuees, one new relief centre was opened in the Hilir Perak district.

It said Hilir Perak is the latest district to be affected by floods, with 21 victims from four families seeking shelter at Dewan Bandaran MPTI.

“The relief centre was opened at 3am today, and all affected families are from Kampung Terengganu.

“Larut, Matang and Selama district recorded the highest number of flood evacuees with 1,811 victims, followed by Manjung (566), Kerian (136) and Perak Tengah (110),” it said, adding that 29 relief centres remain open.
