TUMPAT: A man was killed after he was attacked by a person armed with a machete in Kampung Kok Bedollah last night, in what is believed to have stemmed from an old grudge.
The victim, in his 40s, is believed to have died from severe injuries to his face and several parts of his body.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Khairi Shafie said the victim was approached at his home by the suspect, who is also a relative, before being attacked with a weapon believed to be a machete.
“The victim was repeatedly slashed on the face and hands, resulting in his left arm being severed.
“We also seized a long machete used by the suspect to attack the victim,” he said.
The victim’s body was sent to Tumpat Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, police have obtained a seven-day remand order until Oct 31 against the 45-year-old suspect to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
