PETALING JAYA:

Youth lodged 14 police reports across the country today against political blogger Wan Azri Wan Deris, better known as Papagomo, for allegedly defaming and insulting Prime Minister Ibrahim.

The head of the wing’s mobilisation bureau, Bariqul Zaman, said the coordinated reports were filed simultaneously at 3pm in all 13 states as well as in the federal territories in response to claims made through the TikTok account @akaun933.

“Today, we lodged a police report, and similar reports were filed simultaneously in 14 states (including the federal territories),” he said at a press conference after filing the report at the Shah Alam police headquarters.

“After this, we will see what action the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission will take against Papagomo.”

Youth chief Iman Haziq said the wing could not remain silent after Wan Azri allegedly made several “grave and malicious” claims against the prime minister.

This is said to have included allegations concerning aid sent to Gaza, and that the president was HIV-positive, among others.

In August, Wan Azri was sentenced to 30 days in jail for contempt of court following committal proceedings brought by former inspector-general of police Razarudin Husain, related to a defamation suit filed by the former top cop.

He was granted a stay of execution pending the disposal of his appeal against the sentence.

In 2016, the apex court upheld a ruling that Wan Azri had defamed Anwar in his blog, ordering him to pay RM800,000 in damages.
