Last year, Razer announced the Wolverine V3 and its Pro variant. They feature mouse-click back pedals, meaning said paddles have the same mechanical switches found in mice. More recently, the gaming peripheral brand has announced the Raiju V3 Pro, the PlayStation equivalent of the Wolverine. And it looks like it has inherited everything that made that controller good.
To start, the Razer Raiju V3 Pro has Tension Magnetic Resistance (TMR) analogue sticks. If you’re not sure of what that entails, it means immense stick drift resistance, while also using less power while in operation. And being the company’s designated PS5 controller, it thankfully comes with said sticks in a symmetrical arrangement. As before, you get one convex stick for you to switch around. That, and one spare concave stick in addition to the two attached to the controller by default.
Next on the list of good news is the mouse-click rear paddles. Not exactly a highlight this time around, but it should work the same way as it did in the Wolverine V3. As in, actuation is done by the mechanical switches that you’ll find in the company’s gaming mice. These are also removable if you don’t need them, to prevent mispresses.
Also returning on the Raiju V3 Pro is the Razer pro HyperTriggers. This means letting you set each trigger either as a simple click, or get full analogue range and control. As before, you can set them individually with the switches at the back for each trigger, or the L2 and R2 buttons. Similarly, the mecha-tactile face buttons and eight-way floating D-pad also make a return.
As usual, you can customise the buttons, as well as perform thumbstick sensitivity and calibration, via the Synapse 4 PC software. Alternatively, you can also use the Razer Mobile App now. Included as part of the package is a carrying case, the 2.4 GHz wireless dongle, and for the tourneygoers, there’s also a 2m USB-C cable.
On one hand, the Malaysian site of the Razer online store lists the Raiju V3 Pro with a price rag of RM899. But on the other, in place of the buy button is one to place a pre-order instead. For what it’s worth, the page also mentions a shipping date of 12 Nov. You can get the controller purely in black, or in a panda-like black and white colourway.
