Narcotics cop killed in collision with reversing trailer


MUAR: A 55-year-old narcotics police personnel was killed early this morning when his car collided with a reversing trailer at Jalan Parit Kangkong, Parit Jawa.

Sergeant Ishak Abd Kadir was on his way to work when the 6.30am accident occurred. He died at the scene from severe head and bodily injuries.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said initial investigations revealed that the 23-year-old trailer driver was reversing the heavy vehicle across the road when Ishak’s car, travelling from Parit Jawa towards Batu Pahat, struck it.

The trailer driver tested negative for drugs and alcohol.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a jail term of five to 10 years, a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000, and disqualification from holding a driving licence for at least five years upon conviction.
