KOTA KINABALU, Oct 19 — Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has officially launched its election machinery in preparation for the upcoming state polls, with all divisions and polling districts instructed to begin full operations immediately.

GRS chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor said the launch marked the beginning of intensified groundwork as the coalition moves into election mode across Sabah.

“Today, we are launching the GRS election machinery. With this launch, we are asking all our machinery at the branch level, district polling centres, and divisions to work hard from now until nomination day and through to polling day,” he said when met by the media after officiating at the event.

Hajiji said GRS’ election machinery at the divisional level had shown strong momentum and enthusiasm.

“The machinery in every division is very spirited. That is politics, everyone is ensuring their part succeeds, which means everyone wants to win. We are confident in GRS’ ability to face this election, and God willing, we will once again earn the people’s trust in Sabah,” he added.

When asked about the allocation of state seats between GRS and its federal ally Pakatan Harapan (PH), Hajiji said the matter had been settled, although the official announcement would be made later.

“Do not worry. Actually, the matter has been resolved, but we can’t announce it too early. Even if there are still one or two seats left, I consider that part of ongoing negotiations that are already nearing finalisation,” he explained.

He said similar launches of GRS’ election machinery had already taken place in several districts.

“Yes, in every division. Some have already held their own launches earlier. Today’s event is just the official one, a formality,” Hajiji said.

On allegations that other political parties were attempting to lure GRS members, Hajiji said he was unaware of such efforts.

When asked to comment on a viral video allegedly mocking local parties as “dishonest and inferior,” the caretaker Chief Minister said he preferred not to respond. — The Borneo Post
