Federal police headquarters at Bukit Aman have taken over the investigation of a voice recording allegedly featuring a political leader making defamatory and insulting remarks against Perlis royalty.
Perlis police chief Muhammad Abdul Halim confirmed the latest development. He said state police will assist in gathering supporting evidence.
The investigation will be handled by the classified criminal investigation unit at Bukit Aman.
Yesterday, Arau police chief Ahmad Mohsin Rodi said the recording was believed to contain slanderous and disrespectful statements directed at the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, and Raja Perempuan Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah.
He said the content, which had circulated publicly on social media, allegedly includes false information that could harm the dignity and reputation of the royal institution.
