PETALING JAYA: A fishing boat was detained by the Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) after its crew were found to have no valid work permits.
Selangor MMEA director Captain Abdul Muhaimin Muhammad Salleh said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 18) that the arrest was made on Friday (Oct 17) during a routine patrol 15.5 nautical miles southwest of Sekinchan.
During the inspection, all four crew members, who are Myanmar nationals, were found to have no identification papers or work documentation.
He also said that the crew had used prohibited fishing nets and that around 300kg of fish was seized.
All four suspects, aged between 24 and 35, were then brought to the marine police jetty in Pulau Indah for further action.
