IPOH, Oct 17 (Bernama) — The Perak branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has received eight complaints across the state involving alleged violations of the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) fuel subsidy initiative regulations.
Its director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, said five of the complaints have been fully resolved, while three others are still under further action related to issues such as pump meter manipulation, reduced fuel quantity, and system irregularities.
“We (KPDN) have conducted inspections at the petrol stations involved and found that the fuel dispensed was still within the permitted variance limit,” he said at a press conference after launching the state-level Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for Deepavali 2025 here today.
Kamalludin said there had been no complaints about the misuse of identity cards involving foreign nationals to obtain the BUDI95 petrol subsidy.
On Sept 22, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the price of RON95 petrol would be reduced to RM1.99 per litre, from RM2.05 per litre, through targeted subsidies under the BUDI95 programme, with all Malaysians, aged 16 and above, holding a valid driving licence eligible to receive the subsidy.
In another development, Kamalludin said the state KPDN would continue to ensure sufficient supplies of essential food items throughout the Northeast Monsoon season, which is expected to begin next month.
“If there are any traders found hoarding food supplies with the intention of increasing prices, we will take stern action,” he said.
He added that 195 enforcement officers and 72 price monitoring officers have been mobilised to carry out continuous inspections and monitoring at strategic locations throughout the implementation of the SHMMP, which runs from yesterday until Oct 22.
