KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — A total of 14 foreign nationals were detained during a joint enforcement operation involving City Hall (DBKL), the Immigration Department, and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.
The integrated “KL Strike Force” operation took place around Taman Batu Muda yesterday.
The Immigration Department said the detainees were arrested for offences including the misuse of work permits and overstaying their authorised duration.
They were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Immigration headquarters for documentation and record verification.
DBKL said it also shut down two premises operated by foreign nationals without valid business licences.
Six compound notices were issued for a range of offences, including unlicensed trading and operation by foreign business owners.
Customs officers meanwhile seized 68,028 sticks of untaxed white and kretek cigarettes worth an estimated RM60,000 in unpaid duties.
