PETALING JAYA:

National men’s doubles pair Tan Wee Kiong-Nur Azriyn Mohd Ayub produced the biggest upset of the Denmark Open, defeating world champions Kim Won Ho-Seong Seung Jae from in the second round.

The world No 24 pair played with precision to edge the Koreans 21-19, 21-14 in just 36 minutes to book their spot in the quarter-finals at the Arena Fyn in Odense, Denmark.

Wee Kiong-Azriyn will face another tough challenge against ‘s world No 4 pair Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang, who advanced by defeating Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

Malaysia is guaranteed a place in the mixed doubles semi-finals after world champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei won their second round match to set up a quarter-final clash with compatriots Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai.
