KUCHING, Oct 16 — Police have completed their investigation into the alleged bullying incident at a secondary school in Bau that recently went viral on social media.
Bau District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the police had also held discussions with the school management, the families, and the students involved.
“We take this matter seriously, and we have been in contact with the District Education Office, the school, and the students involved.
“Our investigation revealed that these students are from the same village, and they were just joking around while waiting for their transport home,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Mohd Haide added that the photo which triggered public concern was taken by the elder brother of the student alleged to have been bullied.
“The disciplinary records of all the students involved are also clean,” he said.
He urged the public to stop circulating the photo to avoid creating unnecessary alarm and negative perceptions.
However, he also called on the public to report any genuine bullying incidents directly to the police for prompt action.
“Report directly to the police so that immediate action can be taken,” he said. — The Borneo Post
