PUTRAJAYA, Oct 15 — The Ministry of Education (MOE) has expressed its commitment to upholding the decree by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, on the importance of ensuring a safe environment across all educational institutions.
The ministry said Her Majesty’s decree serves as an important reminder to its personnel to address issues of sexual misconduct, which have serious implications for society and the nation.
“The MOE is committed to carrying out comprehensive awareness campaigns in all educational institutions, assessing the effectiveness of the ‘Tindak Demi Anak Kita’ (TinDak) module, and collaborating with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) to conduct a study on the influence of social media on students, as decreed by Her Majesty,” it said in a statement today.
Yesterday, Her Majesty called on the MOE to review the effectiveness of the TinDak campaign module in creating safer school environments with active parental involvement.
Her Majesty’s decree followed a recent rape incident at a school in Alor Gajah, Melaka, which she viewed with deep concern. — Bernama
