MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for multiple states until 9pm

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm warning for several states and territories until 9pm on Wednesday (Oct 15).

In Perlis, residents are advised to be alert for severe weather while in Kedah and Penang, thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected statewide.

In Perak, all districts are forecast to be affected by adverse conditions.

The situation is similar in parts of as Kuala Krai and Gua Musang are expected to experience severe weather while in Terengganu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman are under the warning.

In Pahang, Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong and Kuantan are expected to face thunderstorms and heavy rain.

In , Sabak Bernam, Kuala , Hulu , Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang are advised to remain vigilant.

In Negeri Sembilan, Port Dickson and Rembau are forecast to experience severe weather, while Melaka is also included.

In Sarawak, the warning covers Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Mukah, Kapit, Miri and Limbang.

In Sabah, the West Coast, specifically Putatan, and Kudat are expected to see adverse conditions.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when rainfall intensity exceeds 20mm per hour or is expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings and are valid for up to six hours from issuance.
