Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) has denied having any ties with Warisan ahead of the upcoming Sabah state election.
KDM secretary-general Willie Jude Junaidi said such rumours has been circulating for some time but intensified after the dissolution of the state assembly.
“Many leaders at the division level have asked me about this issue, which is why today I want to strongly deny it,” he said in a statement.
Willie said it is illogical for KDM to work with Warisan as both parties were set to clash in many constituencies.
“But it’s not surprising, our rivals probably already feel threatened by the strength that KDM currently has and will look for any issue that can be used to weaken us.”
This follows claims that KDM is secretly collaborating with Warisan. Both parties have separately announced they would be contesting solo in the upcoming state polls.
KDM was founded by former state minister Peter Anthony, who used to be a vice-president and founding member of Warisan.
Peter is currently serving a three-year prison sentence for forgery.
Separately, Willie said KDM’s list of candidates for the state polls is at the final stage of discussions with an announcement to be made soon.
