PETALING JAYA, Oct 14 — What was meant to be a day of celebration turned into chaos at a Bandar Utama school when a 14-year-old student allegedly stabbed and killed a 16-year-old schoolgirl on the morning of the Form Five year-ending ceremony.

Students gathered at the main hall were preparing to collect their graduation robes when panic erupted.

“People suddenly came running in and a teacher screamed for us to lock the door,” one Form Five student recalled.

“We pushed against the door and windows, trying to see what was happening outside,” the witness recounted.

From their classroom, students saw a Form Two boy walking around the school compound brandishing a knife about five to six inches long.

Pictures on social media indicated that the boy had used what resembled a Bowie fighting knife, among others.

“It wasn’t a kitchen knife — it looked different and really sharp,” the student said.

Moments later, the suspect began pounding on classroom doors in what witnesses described as a terrifying rampage.

“He tried to get into our room, banging on all the doors, and everyone was screaming,” the witness said.

Students said the boy chased anyone he saw, including the principal and a teacher, while examinations were still ongoing in other classrooms.

A video circulating online, believed to be of the attack, appeared to show the boy strolling around casually with a knife while other students scrambled to higher floors.

“He just got out of his class during an exam and started chasing people,” the witness added.

The suspect later cornered a female student, believed to be the victim, in a toilet where he climbed over a stall door and allegedly stabbed her to death.

Police earlier said they were investigating whether the attack was linked to the suspect’s rejected confession of affection towards the victim the day before.

Petaling Jaya District Police Chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat said officers were still determining the motive and urged the public to allow investigations to proceed.
