KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 — The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has announced an expansion of the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) subsidy programme, adding eligibility for registered boat users in Sarawak and increasing the fuel allocation for full-time e-hailing drivers.

Following the inclusion of boat users in Sabah and those registered with the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) last week, the subsidy system has now been extended to over 1,400 registered private boat users in Sarawak.

At the same time, the monthly fuel cap for full-time e-hailing drivers has been increased to 600 litres.

“Based on data from the Sarawak Rivers Authority and other relevant state agencies, the MoF has activated Budi95 eligibility for over 1,400 registered private boat users in Sarawak,” the ministry said.

“For full-time e-hailing drivers, we have cross-checked data with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), involving over 53,900 individuals, who will now receive the increased quota of 600 litres per month.”

In addition, more than 11,400 new driving licence holders are now eligible for the subsidy. This includes 11,200 new licence holders and 260 who have renewed their licences. The total number of Malaysians benefiting from Budi95 now exceeds 16 million.

The Ministry of Finance reiterated its commitment to ensuring the smooth and transparent implementation of the Budi95 programme.

“The Madani Government remains dedicated to making sure that this targeted subsidy is efficient and directly benefits the people. We will continue to monitor and improve the programme as necessary,” it added.
