Malaysians will get to enjoy up to RM1,000 in tax rebates next year on entry fees to local tourist attractions and cultural programmes, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
In tabling the 2026 budget, Anwar said this initiative is aimed at encouraging Malaysians to travel within the country and boost the tourism sector.
The incentives were introduced in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign.
Anwar also announced tax incentives for the tourism and culture sectors, including up to RM500 in rebates for operators who renovate their business premises.
“Tour operators will be given a 100% income tax exemption on the increased value of income derived from tour packages to Malaysia.
“Companies, associations, and organisations that organise international-level conferences, trade exhibitions, and incentivised events will be entitled to a 100% income tax exemption on their statutory income,” he said.
