PETALING JAYA:

The government has allocated RM2.3 billion under Budget 2026 for airport upgrades in Penang, Sarawak, and Sabah.

Prime Minister Ibrahim said the allocation will fund improvements to the Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, and Miri airports, all slated for completion by 2028.

“Additionally, the short take-off and landing ports (STOLports) in Marudi, Sarawak, and Redang, Terengganu, are being upgraded and are expected to be completed by 2027,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat.

He said the Inter-Terminal Transfer Project between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 will also be implemented to enhance passenger connectivity, integrating both terminals into a seamless world-class international airport.

“The state government, in collaboration with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), is also developing the Aero Park (SAP) — a 600-acre logistics and cargo hub in Sepang that will serve as a regional logistics gateway,” he added.
