CAIRO: Hamas said on Thursday (Oct 9)  it had reached an agreement to end the war in Gaza following talks on a proposal by U.S. President Donald , saying the deal includes an Israeli withdrawal from the enclave and a hostage-prisoner exchange.

Hamas called on and guarantor states to ensure Israel fully implements the ceasefire, it added in a statement.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would convene the government on Thursday to approve the Gaza ceasefire agreement aimed at bringing home all the Israeli hostages.

“A great day for Israel,” Netanyahu added in a statement following U.S. President Donald ‘s announcement that a deal had been reached between Israel and Hamas to end the two-year war in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Trump said in a post on Truth Social that “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan.”

“This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace,” Trump added. – Reuters
