KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 — A 39-year-old man was killed last night when a tree fell on his car on Jalan Kampung Kuala Dioh in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan.
The victim, Nawawi Husin, who was a religious officer from the Jempol district, was driving home from work at around 10:50pm, according to authorities.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Senior Fire Officer Razidi Samik, operations commander at the Kuala Pilah Fire and Rescue Station, said a team was dispatched after receiving an emergency call at 10:52pm.
“Firefighters extricated the 39-year-old man trapped in the vehicle,” he said.
Kuala Pilah Police Chief Superintendent Muhamad Mustafah Hussin added that Nawawi was driving alone from Jempol toward Seremban when the tree fell on his Perodua Viva.
“Weather conditions at the time were clear, with no rain or storm. Preliminary investigations indicate the tree toppled while the victim was driving alone,” he said, as cited by Berita Harian.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
His body was taken to Hospital Tunku Ampuan Najihah for an autopsy.
