The Prime Minister’s Question Time scheduled for today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting was abruptly scrapped after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was summoned to Istana Negara this morning by the Conference of Rulers.
The prime minister was originally scheduled to answer two key questions during the session, but Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul informed the house that Anwar would not be there.
“This morning, we were supposed to have the Prime Minister’s Question Time with two questions from Shahar Abdullah (BN-Paya Besar) and Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah).
“However, I’ve been informed that the prime minister is unable to attend as he has been summoned by the Conference of Rulers to present himself at Istana Negara at 10am,” he said.
Johari said the two deferred questions would be rescheduled to another session.
Shahar was going to ask the prime minister about the official stance on US president Donald Trump‘s proposed Middle East peace plan, particularly regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Mas Ermieyati’s question was on the federal government’s readiness for Visit Malaysia 2026, specifically in terms of international promotional strategies and state-level collaboration.
Prime Minister’s Question Time is typically held every Tuesday, allowing MPs to directly question the prime minister on pressing issues.
