TAWAU, Oct 6 — Parti Warisan (Warisan) has unveiled its new slogan, ‘Selamatkan Sabah (Save Sabah)” and refreshed party logo in a move to position itself as an authentic champion of local people’s concerns, while pledging to restore grassroots trust and support.

Despite the new branding, Warisan remains committed to its longstanding core slogan – ‘Bangsa Kita, Warisan Kita, Masa Depan Kita (Our People, Our Heritage, Our Future) underscoring its stance of putting the people first rather than prioritising alliances with other political parties.

Its president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the new image was designed to raise awareness that Sabah faces a critical situation with unresolved issues, and expressed confidence that Warisan could address them effectively.

“We are not only creating a wave of change but also seeking unity among voters in different areas so that solidarity is reflected not just in words, but in spirit and action.

“The ‘Selamatkan Sabah‘ slogan reflects our determination to tackle pressing issues, especially unresolved infrastructure problems such as roads, water supply and electricity,” he told a press conference after the launch at the Fujimart car park in Jalan Chong Thien Vun, Kalabakan.

It also also saw the admission of 1,522 new members from 30 branches in the division.

Shafie said the initiative aimed to generate a new momentum for change, this time focusing more on local concerns rather than national issues.

“In the 2018 state election we managed to unseat Barisan Nasional () on national issues. But in the 2020 polls (the 16th state election), Warisan was brought down when our elected representatives were lured into defecting.

“The situation is very different now. People are openly voicing their frustrations from constant power cuts, damaged roads and water shortages to limited job opportunities and rising prices.

“These are hardships felt by the people themselves, not just political parties or governments. I believe this growing awareness and realisation at the grassroots will translate into voter support for us,” he said.

The former chief minister hoped the new identity will strengthen Warisan’s unity, both in message and in action, to ensure victory in the coming state election.

To prevent a repeat of defections, he confirmed that Warisan will contest all 73 seats this time with stricter candidate selection to avoid party-hopping.

“Anyone who has defected and wishes to return to Warisan cannot be renominated as candidates. We reject those who only want to stand on personal ambition.”

Present were Warisan Deputy President Datuk Darrel Leiking, Vice Presidents Datuk Jaujan Sambakong, Datuk Junz Wong, Terence Siambun and Daud Yussof, Secretary-General Datuk Loretto Damien S. Padua Jr, and Chief Political Secretary Datuk Aliasgar Basri.

Information Chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman, Treasurer-General Azhar Matussin, Acting Women’s Chief Norfaizah Chua, Youth Chief Terence SF Au, Wirawati Chief Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis and other Supreme Council members also attended. — Daily Express
