
SHAH ALAM: A man was killed while his four family members, including an eight-month-old baby, were injured when the car that they were in hit an electric pole in Seksyen 22, here.
Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said in a statement on Monday (Oct 6) that the accident occurred on Persiaran Tengku Ampuan.
At the time of the accident, the driver, a 39-year-old man, had lost control of his vehicle before colliding with an electric pole.
“The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other passengers suffered injuries and have been brought to the hospital,” he said.
According to Bernama, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the incident occurred at about 1.20pm on Monday.
He said that the victim, who was trapped in the driver’s seat, was extricated by firefighters at 1.45 pm before he was confirmed dead by medical officers at the scene.
“The victim’s wife, 38, two girls aged seven and four and a seven-month-old baby girl were also seriously hurt and all of them were sent to the hospital by members of the public,” he said in a statement.
Ahmad Mukhlis said the operation involved seven personnel and a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station (BBP).
