BINTULU, Oct 5 — A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident around 2am today at the junction near SJK(C) Sebiew Chinese along Jalan Tun Hussein Onn.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Bintulu Hospital, while his pillion passenger sustained injuries in the crash.
According to Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali, preliminary investigations found that the collision occurred when a Toyota Harrier, travelling from J5 towards Taman Putrajaya, exited a slip road to enter the junction near SJK(C) Sebiew Chinese.
“At that moment, the motorcycle coming from Bintulu town towards J5 collided with the vehicle. The impact caused severe injuries to the rider, leading to his death at the scene,” he said.
Police have classified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
