PETALING JAYA:

deputy information chief Chua Wei Kiat won the Selayang chief’s post in the division’s re-election held today, according to official results on the party’s election website.

Chua, who is also the Rawang assemblyman, won with 1,945 votes, compared with challenger Wan Ibnul Bahar Wan Ismail’s 1,693 votes.

In the previous election on April 12, Chua received 1,648 votes, losing to Kamarudin Hussain, who obtained 2,041 votes.

Two days later, Chua said he would appeal the outcome of the election.

The results released today were certified by central election committee chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

On April 26, Zaliha had announced that four PKR divisions – Jempol, Selayang, Silam and Semporna – would hold fresh elections today following objections by defeated candidates.

G Manivannan won the Jempol PKR chief’s post with 571 votes, compared with challengers Asri Abdullah’s 229 votes and Mariappan Kattaiyan’s 39.

Romansa Lamin won the Silam PKR chief’s post with 566 votes, defeating challengers Rubiah Onga (483) and Syafiq Iqhmal Saharudin (four).

Pasir Salak PKR also held a re-election, with Hisamuddin Ali winning the division chief’s post with 944 votes over challenger Maharani Tasi’s 677.

The Semporna PKR re-election was only for the selection of its committee members.
