Sultan Sharafuddin acknowledges people's participation in royal wedding procession

SHAH ALAM: Sultan of , Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, expressed his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the people who took the time to witness and enliven the royal wedding procession of the Raja Muda of last Thursday.

On Oct 2, Tengku Amir Shah, the Raja Muda of , and Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz were officially married at Masjid Istana Diraja, Istana Alam Shah, Klang.

In a Selangor Royal Office Facebook post on Saturday (Oct 4), both Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Amir Shah conveyed their joy and gratitude for the attention and excitement shown by people from all walks of life, many of whom were witnessing such an event for the first time.

“Over 2,000 people gathered along Jalan Istana, from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, to witness the procession, as the Raja Muda of Selangor made his way to Masjid Istana Diraja for the marriage solemnisation on Oct 2,” read the post.

Selangor mufti Datuk Dr Anhar Opir presided over the royal couple’s marriage ceremony, which was held in a private setting, with Tengku Panglima Raja Selangor Tengku Ahmad Shah Alhaj and Tengku Indera Pahlawan Diraja Tengku Datuk Setia Putra Alhaj as witnesses.

The solemnisation, held in full accordance with tradition, was also witnessed by Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.

As soon as the marriage solemnisation was completed at 10.08 am, an 11-gun salute from the 41st Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment (Ceremonial) marked the conclusion of the ceremony. – Bernama
