Police arrested a man suspected of being involved in the murder of a shop assistant in an oil palm estate in Simpang, Taiping, yesterday.
Taiping police chief Nasir Ismail said the suspect, 40, was caught together with a parang, believed to have been used in the attack, in Aulong, Taiping, Bernama reported.
He is said to have used it to kill the victim, 19, at about 11am today.
A member of the public found the victim lying face down and covered in blood at 2.55pm.
Nasir said preliminary investigations indicated the suspect was motivated by jealousy.
The suspect, who has four prior convictions for criminal offences, tested positive for morphine.
