IPOH, Oct 2 — Police have received three reports against actress and activist Rafidah Ibrahim over alleged incitement related to the demolition of Surau Al-Karamah in Kampung Seri Keramat, Pasir Puteh, said Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin.
He said the reports were lodged in Ipoh and confirmed that Rafidah has not yet been called in to provide her statement.
Noor Hisam also clarified that no protest or demonstration took place at the surau today, despite Rafidah’s call in a viral video for the public to gather.
“For now, there has been no trespassing at the surau as the court has issued an order to postpone the demolition works until October 8.
“We urge all parties to remain calm and avoid any actions that may disrupt the legal process,” he told reporters during the Perak police personnel’s retirement and appreciation ceremony at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess here.
In the video circulated online, Rafidah had criticised the demolition of the surau to make way for road construction, calling it excessive.
She also urged the public to show up at the surau site on October 2 to support the protest.
Earlier, Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) president Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini stressed that the issue had long been resolved.
He said the surau had been relocated to a new site about 250 metres from its original location, on land legally endowed under MAIPk.
Mohd Annuar also reminded all parties not to sensationalise the matter, warning that it could create confusion and disrupt community harmony.
