KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTMB) will introduce two new ETS services for the Kluang-KL Sentral-Kluang sector, operating every weekend starting October 10.
KTMB said the new services will offer 315 seats for each train, including a Business Class coach, and will specifically operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
“This initiative not only complements the existing daily schedule, but also provides a major convenience for residents in Kluang to travel to Kuala Lumpur faster, more comfortably and without having to deal with weekend traffic congestion.
“With the shorter ETS journey, users now have more options to plan work matters, meetings, or family holidays to the capital,” KTMB said in a statement here yesterday.
According to KTMB, the schedule for the new service involves a journey departing Kluang at 9.33am and arriving at KL Sentral at 1pm, while the return trip will depart KL Sentral at 5.35pm and arrive in Kluang at 9.08pm.
Tickets for the service will be available through the KTMB Mobile (KITS) app, kiosks, or KTMB’s official website starting today at 10am.
On August 30, KTMB introduced the daily ETS service for the KL Sentral-Kluang sector, which received overwhelming response with 4,461 passengers recorded on weekdays (Monday to Thursday) until September 28.
During the same period, 6,412 passengers were recorded using the service on weekends (Friday to Sunday), bringing the total to 10,873 passengers.
“KTMB is always attentive to the needs of customers and will continue to assess the potential of adding more trips according to demand, including during festive seasons, school holidays and long breaks.
“This step also provides the public with a more flexible, convenient and efficient travel option, especially for Kluang residents travelling to Kuala Lumpur,” the statement added.
